How did WisconsinMeatRaffle.com come to be a reality.
A group of friends were out at there local meat raffle on a cold Sunday afternoon. They didn’t want the fun to end and turn to there phones in the attempt to locate the next raffle. Than in a moment of frustration someone said “ I wish there was one website that had a list of all the raffles” Within 24 hours wisconsinmaetraffle.com was born. We rely heavily on information from fellow Meat Heads to build our data base.
As for the history of the raffles them selves nobody really knows how the started. All things seem to point to the British during WWII when meat was rationed. Local families would get together and but all there rations in one pile and then raffle it off so that one family could enjoy a full meal. Regardless of how the tradition started meet raffles are alive and well in the midwest the younger generation is starting to take this trend and run with it.
